Northwestern Pritzker School of Law offers several mentorship programs, including the following programs, which offer multi-layered matching between mentors and mentees.

JD Mentorship Programs

Alumni-Student Mentorship Program

This program matches alumni (mentors) with first-year JD students (mentees) to ensure that students receive the mentoring they need to maximize their potential, both during law school and afterward. Matches are determined based on students’ needs and the areas of law they are interested in. The program supports students from their acceptance to Northwestern Law through their first year post graduation. Alumni mentors and student mentees are invited to participate in orientations, socials and panel discussions.

How it Works:

  • Students may participate as mentees and will be matched to an alumni mentor. Student applications for the 2022-2023 are open from August 1, 2022 to August 26, 2022.
  • Mentor applications for the 2022-2023 academic year are open from July 15, 2022 to August 19, 2022.
  • Participants register and complete a profile, which should take 15 minutes.
  • Mentorship matches are determined based on students’ needs and areas of law they are interested in and subsequently announced to the match.
  • Once mutually established, the mentor-mentee pair then agrees on goals and communication preferences, and continues to connect through individual meetings, program socials and panel discussions.

MSL Mentorship Program

The MSL Mentorship Program matches MSL alumni (mentors) with MSL students (mentees) to ensure that students receive the mentoring they need to maximize their potential. The program supports students as they pursue their post-MSL goals.

  • Mentorship matches are determined based on students’ needs and areas of interest and subsequently announced to the match.

“My mentor seemed to really care about my law school experience. She had great advice for school and for my job hunt. I felt like I had her full support and if I ever needed anything I could always turn to her.”

- Student in Class of 2022

“The mentorship program is the least I can do to give back to a community and a school that have given so much to me. I am grateful to be seen as a mentor and hope that my advice, based on my own experiences, can help one or several students feel more confident about their own academic pursuits.”
