For Alumni
Countless publications validate the significance and value of mentoring. Mentoring gives you the opportunity to share your knowledge and advice with someone who is about to embark down a similar path to the one you traveled, and this is your chance to help them along the way.
Kellogg alumni mentors are professionals who are passionate about sharing their knowledge and resources with current students. Volunteering as an alumni mentor is a great way to stay connected with the Kellogg community and an opportunity to make an impact on students.
What is Expected of Alumni Mentors?
We have designed this program to be flexible for alumni. You and your student or recent graduate have complete control over your mentoring relationship and can decide how you want the relationship to work.
- Respond to student or recent graduate communications in a timely manner.
- Set your relationship goals right away about when and how you will connect with your student or recent graduate. One meeting is required (either in person or via phone or video chat), but how the relationship evolves after that is up to the mentoring pair.
- Approach your mentoring relationship with respect, professionalism, and an open mind.
- Listen and ask open-ended questions, which will assist your student or recent graduate in thinking about their career direction.
- Send your feedback and suggestions for improvement to kamp@kellogg.northwestern.edu.
